P & G Promotion ~ Spend $30 Get A Dustbuster Free

P & G has a new promotion out!

The details are bit fuzzy, but there is still time to figure it out. The promo details can be read here in more detail.

In order to get the Free Black and Decker Dustbuster all items must be purchased at the same store and on the same receipt. Purchases must be made between 2/18/09 and 3/04/09 and postmarked by 3/11/09.

It sounds like there are some definite possibilities here, or to break even with P & G products and a new Dustbuster.

I know we sure need a new Dustbuster, since ours has one foot in the trashcan.

Sweet Potato Casserolle Recipe

Sweet Potato Casserole

This always gets rave reviews and is perfect for the holidays
Ingredients:

3 Cups Sweet Potatoes, boiled and mashed

2 Eggs

¾ Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk

1 ½ tsp Vanilla

¼ tsp nutmeg

½ tsp cinnamon

1/3 Cup Butter, melted

Hefty pinch of salt

Topping:

1/3 C Flour

¾ C Brown Sugar

½ C Coconut (optional, and is very good even for those who scoff at coconut like my husband J)
1 C Chopped Pecans or walnuts (optional, but add so much flavor!)

1/3 C Butter

Directions:

Using a mixer, beat first group of ingredients. Pour into 2 qt casserole dish. Mix topping and spread over sweet potato mixture. Bake at 350* 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.

2 coupon inserts 2/22 this weekend

Thanks to BargainBriana I found out there were supposed to be 2 inserts in this weekends paper. I was lucky enough to find several copies of the Red Plum for this weekends editions paper early, but somehow I suspect they will not be in my local paper because lately they have either had either the Smart Source or the Redplum but not both. It seems strange, but I have tried to just let go of the crazy madness and just expect it. I have had to come up with alternative ways to get my coupons. Ways I do not wish to discuss here...lol...

So FYI...February 22 or 2/22 make sure to flip through your papers and look for the Red Plum and the Smart Source inserts and if you can try to buy the biggest city paper you can.

This sounds like a great deal if you can find the bars in your store.

Whats so great about coupons 101- Part 2 Stockpiling

What is stockpiling and how does it work???

The concept is pretty hard for most to take in at first, because we are programmed to write a grocery list and go shopping for the items on that list, but it is much more beneficial to write your list around the sales and the coupons available to you.

Purchase at least two to four copies of the newspaper every week to maximize savings. If there are several coupon inserts in the newspaper, I would purchase extra copies. I know for many people it is hard to justify the cost of newspapers because you are spending money up front to save money, but just buy 2 papers at first and watch your savings add up. You will likely want to buy more copies to get the additional savings.

Look through weekly ads for good deals on items your family uses on a regular basis such as pasta sauce, veggies and cereal. There are many online resources which make this much easier such as hotcouponworld.com, couponmom.com, afullcup.com, and slickdeals.net. Make your grocery list around the sales. To demonstrate, if Manwich is on sale for $1 and there are .50/2 (.50 off 2 items) coupons the final cost would be .50 each. This is a pretty good stock up price if your family eats a lot of Manwich. It is an even better deal when you go online and read there is a catalina deal when you buy $10 worth you receive $3 OYNO (On your next order). Total cost for 10 items would be $2 if you have 5 coupons. This is why it's important to get multiple copies of newspapers or to get involved in a trading group – a group who trades coupons online or in person. When you can get items free or almost free this would be a stockpile price and you do exactly that; stockpile.

The stockpile is essential to build when couponing because once you establish it, you are able to pick and choose what you want to buy and when you want to buy it. It basically allows you to pay bottom dollar for items or nothing at all because you can use what you have instead of running to the store and paying full price for the items you need.

The key to making your budget go even further is to create your recipes from your stockpiled ingredients. For example, if you have a lot of frozen corn, make corn chowder or creamed corn. Once your stockpile is established you just replenish as you find great deals and purchase the items you do not have in stock such as milk and produce.

Until next time….

File Your Taxes Free or Cheap

The IRS is again offering FreeFile to a select population (is it me or is that population getting smaller).

Now the stipulations are as follows:

"Free File allows taxpayers with a 2008 adjusted gross income of $56,000 or less to both prepare and e-file their federal tax returns for free"

You can also FreeFile if your AGI (adjusted gross income) is higher than 56,000 by clicking here.Use the downloadable forms available from the IRS and then FreeFile directly through the IRS website.

If this sounds too difficult there are a multitude of internet options available that charge nominal fees for you to enter your information. Just make sure to read the qualifications for their fees. Meaning, if your AGI is under $30,000 their fees are $9.95; otherwise, they might end up charging you a lot more. You can read about these options http://www.irs.gov/efile/lists/0,,id=101223,00.html.

The best tip I can give is to get started on your taxes. I know what a pain they are, but most of us "deal seekers" are not the best organizers, so tackle it early and get it out of the way so you can move on to bigger and better things. ;)

Good luck.

What’s So Great About Coupons 101 Part 1 – Coupon Lingo

I know when I stumbled upon my favorite website, hotcouponworld.com, I was completely lost for quite some time; nonetheless I was bewildered by the network available to me and the savings I could achieve. I was skeptical at first like most, but I just needed to understand how to maneuver the website and understand the coupon lingo. I remember being online late at night and saying to my DH (dear husband), "what the heck does OYNO mean? Why are they talking about a Cat? Aren't we supposed to be talking about coupons?" (A Cat is a Catalina which I will explain in another lesson) I know the questions that everyone experiences, so do not fret; you are not alone. As long as you commit to read and stick with it, you will finally get to that ah-ha moment.

So…without further ado let's get started with Coupon Lingo

This information was revised/copied from ehow.com.
